Professional Insight: Why You Should Attend #PRinGR

Greetings,

On behalf of the West Michigan Public Relations Society of America, I’d like to express how enthusiastic I am that Grand Rapids will be host to a 2017 regional PRSSA conference. Generation Grand: Experience PR in GR will be one of only 10 regional conferences held across the country in 2017.

Hundreds of PR students and aspiring pros from throughout the Midwest will descend upon Grand Valley State University’s DeVos and Eberhard campuses for three days of thought-provoking sessions, networking opportunities and tours of the city. On the surface, this is a student-driven PR event. However, at its core, it’s an opportunity to showcase the city of Grand Rapids and the entire West Michigan region.

Generation Grand is not just limited to PRSSA student members. Non-PRSSA members, high school students and industry professionals are also encouraged to attend the three-day event.

As local PR professionals, there are a variety of ways for to get involved and I encourage you to do so in whatever way makes the most sense for you. Here are few opportunities to consider:

  • Become a program speaker
  • Meet future pros at networking events
  • Host students during agency tours
  • Support the event through a sponsorship

For more information on how to get involved, you can contact Becky Thomason at thomasor@mail.gvsu.edu. If you’re interested in attending, registration is now open.

I’d like to thank the Grand Valley State University and Ferris State University PRSSA chapters for their hard work in landing such a notable event and for all of the planning and coordination that goes into an conference of this magnitude. Moreover, I’d like to thank the two chapters for their continued efforts in promoting West Michigan as the premier Midwest destination to live, work and socialize.

With sincere appreciation,

Adam Russo
