Now that the holidays are behind us, it’s time to start thinking about classes again. Armed with Starbucks gift cards and shiny new planners, every PR student is in preparation for another semester of caffeine-powered 8 a.m. classes and pitch letters. Along with the new year comes a new set of resolutions we establish for ourselves (regardless of whether we accomplish them or not), and I can guarantee that every PR student’s goals for 2017 will look something like this:
Finally master AP Style
Because constantly flipping back and forth between the pages in that handbook is starting to give us paper cuts.
Reach 500 connections on LinkedIn
We’re pros at networking, and its time to prove it.
Land a summer internship in a big city
New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles are the dream destinations for us all.
Find a way to describe our program to non-PR majors
Telling people “we write a lot of stuff but also do business and relate to the public” just isn’t working anymore.
Perfect our resumes
We treat these things like our babies – there’s no such thing as too much
Go viral on Twitter
Okay, this one applies to all college students, but as PR majors we have the upper hand in being social media savvy.
Cut back on coffee intake, because too much is bad for us.
Haha, just kidding.
Good luck to all the students starting classes next week, and happy new year!
